‘Chase the sun’ Charity bike ride challange

Charity bike ride, Sunday 15th Sept 2019, 07.00 hrs dept

Southport to Hornsea 160 miles all in one day, starting and finishing at the official Trans-Pennine trail markers.

The route:

Southport – Parbold – Standish – Bolton – Bury – Rochdale – Blackstone Edge – Ripponden – Brighouse – Wakefield – Pontefract – Goole – Humber Bridge – Hornsea

Weather permitting,(if its not too windy) when we get to Goole there is an option to route south east and cycle over the Humber Bridge.
I anticipate there will be a minimum of 2 groups on the day, faster pace and steady pace, with planned stops approx. every 50 miles.
As with previous cycle challenges I have organized, we plan to use the ride to raise funds for “EMpowered people” Disability Cycling Charity. Some of the EMpowered riders will join us from the Rochdale to Brighouse section.

Cannot join us but would like to donate?

The EMpowered Support vehicle (Betty) will be on hand for the day and a nominal charge of £15.00 per rider will be requested to cover fuel and supplies (drinks, energy bars, snacks etc). Many thanks in advance to   “The Little Yorkshire Biscuit Company” for fuelling us on our way.

We are going to have a great day on the road. If you’re interested in joining and for more details, logistics and route information please contact Nigel Robinson:

Hi, I am one of the trustees of Empowered people. As well as looking after this website, I am also an ebike builder, modifier, hacker, and general bike mechanic. I have been involved with the Charity since 2015 and participate in as many rides as I can with my wife Catherine on the 'Bike Train' if you look around the website you are sure to find me in the background somewhere.
